The Galleria at the Museum of Fine Arts
Over the Memorial Day weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting Boston's Museum of Fine Arts. They are hosting a special exhibit on Spanish art, which I wanted to see. I also had the pleasure of taking in a quick lunch at their Galleria cafe, which was focusing on Spanish cuisine in honor of the exhibit. The atmosphere of the cafe was perfect for a lunch break at a museum. The seating is adjacent to one of the main corridors and you can watch visitors bustling back and forth.
For my meal I chose to have smoked duck on a bed of arugula (which I believe is called rocket in the UK) with onions, grape tomatoes and slices of a peach. It was a tough decision because there were so many nice Spanish dishes on the menu to choose from. But I am a great lover of duck, so smoked duck it was. The dressing was a nice vinaigrette. Unlike some wimpy restaurant vinaigrettes, this one was made with balsamic vinegar that was perfectly seasoned, giving off just the right notes of acidity to offset the duck and the slightly peppery arugula.
I don't often have smoked meats and certainly don't smoke meats at home, but it is something I'd like to have more (or do at home). Smoking it gives it such a nice flavor that is so distinct from other cooking methods. This will be my next endeavor in terms of cooking skills... As you may have already guessed, I was pleasantly surprised by my meal and would definitely return.
