Turks-Champions of Kebab

This summer I will be focusing on Turkish foods, as I am spending the summer working in Ankara, Turkey. My first taste of Turkish food consisted of Kebabs at a local neighborhood Kebab eatery. Nothing special, right? Just a neighborhood joint--Not so.

Let's start with the basics. A Kebab is grilled or broiled meat on a skewer. More precisely it is called Shish Kebab as there are other types of Kebabs. In Turkey beef is usually used to make Kebabs.
The Kebabs I've tasted so far (Tomato and Eggplant Kebabs) are simply incredible. They are tasty and juicy. Kebabs are usually served with vegetables and flat bread. Here it has been my experience that they come with rice, a little green salad, a yogurt dip and a spice dip. I have a feeling I'm going to be eating a lot of Kebabs this summer...
