Feeding your Skin
This summer, while browsing through the English-language floor of a Turkish bookstore, I happened upon a book called Feeding your Skin by Carla Oates. I firmly believe that what you eat affects the way your skin looks, but this book is about how to create your own skincare. This week I made myself a geranium and clay cleanser, which is geared for oily and acneous skin. Here's the recipe:
Ingredients:
This cleanser should last up to six months.
By the way, don't use metal bowls to mix because metal reacts with fruits and vegetables. If you use a wooden spoon to mix this, I wouldn't reuse it later to cook food with. Castile soap is a gentle cleanser that doesn't strip your skin of its natural oils the way other soaps do. It's true, in high school, my chemistry teacher informed us that the way soap cleans is by dissolving your skin!
